Google saves almost $3bn by running servers for 6 years

Recently, Google’s parent company Alphabet reported a total of $2.9bn in savings on their server life extension, as well as a total quarterly revenue of $77bn.

This was due in part to the company extending the life of their data centre servers from five to six years, with additional estimations of the useful life of their network equipment in that same time frame.
