  • More Than Just Archives: How to Future-Proof and Utilize Your Media Archives

For modern media organizations, the ideal archive solution is one that balances affordability with accessibility. On-premise storage is too precious to waste on archival data, the space on which is both expensive and in demand for performance intensive workloads. There’s no easy solace in the cloud either: cold storage tiers hide costly retrieval fees and glacial performance behind low monthly rates. Low-touch media might not be needed often, but when it is you won’t want to wait days to retrieve it and be raked over the coals as you do. The challenge for an ideal archive solution is holding these factors in balance and creating an archive solution that breaks none of these three laws: 1) per-TB costs remain low enough to justify storing large amounts of data for long periods of time, 2) the data must remain accessible when needed, and 3) retrieval must be predictable and repeatable. In this webinar, you’ll hear from Wasabi experts on how to create an active archive strategy and assess real examples of customer experiences with varied archive strategies. What you will learn: Workflows of typical archive use cases Storage types of legacy archival operations Overview of cold archiving in the cloud Modern “active” archive breakdown Review real-life archive workflow examples Speakers: Ben Bonadies, Product Marketing Manager, Wasabi Mark Stolnitz, Director of M&E Sales, Wasabi

How can organizations using Microsoft 365 best meet their compliance archiving, supervision, and surveillance obligations? While Microsoft offers multiple ways to archive messages and other content in Microsoft 365, these only enable storage, not policy-based retention or policy-based deletion unless retention policies are used as well. Relying on Microsoft 365 alone thus falls far short of what regulated organizations need to mitigate compliance risk. • XenData-Wasabi Solution for Hybrid Media Archive, Backup and Collaboration

XenData stores media files in the Wasabi cloud providing highly scalable archive, backup and multi-site sync of your content. Most Media & Entertainment operations maintain an “active archive.” These are stores of media files that are accessed with some frequency but nothing like the intensive access associated with shared disk storage used for editing. Traditionally, these active archives have been based on LTO data tape robotic libraries, but now, there are a host of reasons that favor storing active archives in the cloud. XenData provides cloud solutions with functionality that extends well beyond that of conventional on-premises archives. Its Cloud File Gateway allows file-based applications to use cloud object storage, like Wasabi hot cloud storage, without modification. The gateway manages local RAID and an unlimited volume of files in the cloud, creating a hybrid active archive with most frequently accessed files retained on RAID for fastest access. The XenData gateway is not limited to archiving applications; it also allows you to backup any local shared disk storage to the cloud. This provides both active archiving and backup in one scalable solution that is optimized for video applications. The company’s new Multi-Site Sync service creates a global file system and synchronizes cloud storage across any number of Cloud File Gateway locations. This provides media professionals, wherever they are located, complete and up-to-date access to all the assets in the active archive. This webinar will present how XenData and Wasabi simplify the transition to a cloud-based work environment while delivering expanded media file access, workflow efficiency and cost savings.
