5 Ways to Drive Innovation at the Edge
By: Dell Technologies and Intel
Type: White Paper
The edge refers to the place where data is generated. In a factory, it could be the production line. In retail, the point of purchase. In farming, the equipment deployed throughout the fields. In healthcare, the ambulance, lab or examination room.
By processing this data securely near its source, the edge reveals near real-time insights that can help organizations optimize processes and maximize potential.
Edge solutions are already helping us build the cities of tomorrow, improve patient care in our hospitals, personalize how we shop both online and in-store, and much more. These transformations are gaining momentum.

Datacentre design and facilities: What you need to know
By: TechTarget ComputerWeekly.com
Type: eGuide
Uptime, availability and performance are three critical considerations for any datacentre operator, which is why – when it comes to designing their facilities – so many rely on tried and trusted approaches.
But pursuing a “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” strategy within the datacentre only gets you so far, which is why it is so important to ensure operators keep an open mind about adopting new technologies and design best practice to maximise the performance and efficiency of their sites.
For instance, while fresh air-cooling is the norm for many datacentres, there are emerging use cases for expanding the use of liquid cooling within server farms to make it easier to regulate the temperature of kit carrying out far more compute-intensive tasks.
In this e-guide, we take a look at some of the latest thinking and trends around datacentre design, while shining a light on the differing approaches organisations take to ensure their server farms remain up and running, and can withstand all the compute demands expected of them.

Why SAS is a Gold Mine for Crypto
By:
Type: Talk
Just as with mining in the real world, the people who mine cryptocurrency use powerful equipment to increase their chance of finding valuable resources. But all that power comes at a cost: namely, massive energy consumption. However, next generation blockchains such as the Chia Network could change all that. Unlike other cryptocurrencies, you don't mine Chia with a processor, graphics card, or an ASIC miner. Instead, you farm Chia with storage space, which is where hard drives and solid-state drives come in, using the Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) infrastructure to connect them. In this webinar, Jonmichael Hands, vice president, Storage Business Development, Chia Network, will explain the “proof of space and time” (storage capacity) concept that is the foundation of the Chia network, and why SAS is a great technology for farming Chia. He will also discuss the difference between Chia plotting and farming and how they are carried out with the use of storage devices. The webinar will be moderated by Cameron Brett, president of the SCSI Trade Association (STA) and director of Enterprise and Cloud Storage Marketing at KIOXIA America. SAS is the leading storage interface used in enterprise servers and storage deployments in data centers. Can the Chia Network turn storage into gold for a digital world? Which great SAS products can help you farm for Chia? Reserve your spot today and tune in to find out!

The funds from Direct Payments will be redirected to environmental schemes most notable ELMs, Environmental Land Management Scheme. Clearly, this is giant shift from supporting food production to improving the environment. This webinar will take a deep look at the potential changes and the implications to the insurance industry. Speaker bio: Graham Plaister Principal Specialist – Agriculture & Rural Graham started his career managing the family’s traditional dairy farm developing the herd into large production unit comprising 250 pedigree Holstein cattle of high genetic merit. The herd was ranked in the top 4% and won a national competition for management and profitability. In 1999 he started diversifying the farm by replacing the dairy herd with a horse livery enterprise, beef herd and change of use of farm buildings to rural commercial lets. The beef herd comprised of Hereford and Aberdeen Angus store cattle supplying Waitrose Supermarkets. The horse livery enterprise was set up providing facilities for 30 horses. In 2001 Graham was asked to become an honorary farm assessor for a Mutual Insurance Company. In 2003 Graham joined firm of loss adjusters, where he put his specialist knowledge to good use. Graham has significant practical and technical knowledge on livestock, equine and arable crops along with farm diversification.
